Call for Abstracts

The 20th Annual Native Health Research Conference (co-sponsored this year by the Indian Health Service, the Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board, and the Native Research Network, Inc.) will bring together many different stakeholders involved in the conception, production, translation, and use of health research in American Indian/Alaska Native/Native Hawaiian (AI/AN/NH) communities from across the continent. Conference participants will include health care providers, administrators, educators, policy-makers, and tribal leaders, as well as researchers. It is anticipated that the conference will enhance our collective ability to advance biomedical, psychosocial, and health services research for the benefit of Native communities, as well as to showcase recent health research projects and efforts undertaken in Indian Country.

There is opportunity in the conference program for pre-coordinated panel presentations, oral presentations, and poster presentations concerning AI/AN/NH research projects. We are especially interested in proposals that will address this year's conference theme on the Interface of Science and Tradition, as well as presenters who might address Community-Based Participatory Research from the community's perspective and Native Hawaiian Health Issues. Beyond this, proposals regarding any area of AI/AN/NH health research will receive full consideration.

Abstracts must be received by 5:00 pm (Pacific Standard Time) on May 15, 2008, in order to be reviewed by the Scientific Program Committee of the Native Research Network. We anticipate notifying all potential presenters of the selection outcome via email by June 15, 2008.
